The article analyzes the structural-semantic features of the grammatical category of nouns in the English and Karakalpak languages, which belong to different language families. The scientific works of English, Russian, Uzbek, and Karakalpak scholars were used to illuminate the topic. During the research, we were convinced that in both languages, plural forms express their main meaning only when used in relation to concrete nouns. In all other cases, it expresses non-categorical meanings.When added to proper, abstract, material nouns, and all other types of nouns, the plural form expresses peripheral meanings. The research employed methods of comparative, structural and semantic analysis.
