This article analyzes the reasons for the emergence, essence, and historical significance of the New Economic Policy (NEP), introduced by the former Soviet government in 1921. It highlights the negative consequences of the military communism policy, the replacement of food requisitioning with food tax, and the limited restoration of market relations. Additionally, based on scientific sources, the article reveals the characteristics of implementing the new economic policy in the territory of Turkestan and its influence on the development of the agrarian sector and industry. The article demonstrates that the NEP partially protected the interests of farmers and played a role in restoring economic ties between urban and rural areas.
