Based on available sources, the article examines the changes and achievements in the higher education system of the Uzbek SSR, as well as the problems that emerged in the field of education in the years following the adoption of the 1958 Law On Strengthening the Link Between School and Life and on the Further Development of the Public Education System of the USSR.
