This article is devoted to the criminal-legal characteristics of the crime provided for in part 4 of Article 113 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan "wittingly leaving another person at risk of contracting HIV/AIDS". The socio-legal basis for the introduction of criminal liability for leaving at risk of HIV infection has been determined. Through the analysis of current legislation, court decisions, legal and medical sources, the risk of HIV infection is highlighted. It is also justified to exclude the word AIDS from the title and disposition of this article and to establish criminal liability in separate parts for "Leaving at risk of HIV infection/AIDS" and "Infection with HIV/AIDS".
