The article analyses the formation of state institutions in the Republic of India, the state structure, the features of the principle of separation of powers, the influence of Indian customs on national law, the legal system and the practice of applying legal documents aimed at regulating social relations. In addition, given that the Constitution of India contains about 500 articles, the gradual development of the legal norms enshrined in it is considered, and, most importantly, its role as the basis for combating crime, as well as the peculiarities of the country's legal system.
