The article examines the modern aspects of preliminary investigation in the Republic of Uzbekistan, its legal framework, structure, and key principles. The main challenges faced by investigative bodies are analyzed, including issues of procedural efficiency, protection of the rights of participants in criminal proceedings, and the integration of modern technologies into crime investigation. Special attention is given to reforms in the criminal justice system aimed at increasing the independence of investigative bodies, strengthening guarantees of the rights of suspects and accused persons, and optimizing procedural timelines. The author proposes possible directions for improving the preliminary investigation in Uzbekistan, including the modernization of the legislative framework, the introduction of digital technologies into the investigation process, the enhancement of interagency cooperation, and the development of a training system for investigative personnel. The study also considers international experience in investigative activities and its potential adaptation to national conditions. The research findings may be useful for lawyers, investigators, law enforcement officials, and scholars engaged in issues of criminal procedure and law enforcement system reform.
