The article analyzes the issues of departmental control in criminal proceedings. Various approaches to understanding control and supervision, as well as their differentiation within the framework of criminal proceedings are considered. Particular attention is paid to the procedural means and boundaries of departmental control at the stage of pre-trial proceedings in criminal cases. The need to create new legal mechanisms to regulate pre-investigation checks, inquiries and preliminary investigations is substantiated.
