The article analyzes scientific approaches to the study of the causes of victimization associated with theft, and also examines issues related to both theory and practice in this area. The authors of the article draw attention to the opinions and points of view of scientists on issues related to the study of victims of theft, emphasizing the importance of understanding the reasons why crimes committed against these individuals often remain hidden (latent). This aspect is especially significant for the development of effective methods for preventing crimes and increasing overall security.
