Carbothermal synthesis of silicon carbide nanopowders using microsilica

Annotatsiya

By carbothermic reduction of microsilica, which is a highly dispersed technogenic waste from the production of technical silicon and ferrosilicon, containing 95-97 wt.% amorphous silicon dioxide, micro- and nanopowders of silicon carbide have been synthesized. It is shown that by this way 4H, 6H and 3C polytypes of silicon carbide can be synthesized. It has been established that the size of the synthesized silicon carbide particles depends on the particle size of the used carbonaceous reducing agent.
