The mechanism of combinatorial synthesis of sputtered cluster ions NbnOm−

Annotatsiya

The unimolecular decays on all stoichiometrically possible fragmentation channels of the emitted NbnOm−  clusters under sputtering of niobium surface by Xe+ ion beams and blowing by oxygen have been studied. The study of the fragmentation processes of selected sputtered NbnOm− clusters indicates that NbO2, NbO3 and Nb2O5, along with O and O2, are the most probable neutral fragments during decays and can be considered as building blocks of NbnOm− clusters. It is shown that the formation and monomolecular fragmentation of NbnOm− clusters are described within the framework of the statistical combinatorial recombination mechanism, but taking into account the strong non-equilibrium of the process.
