The article primarily analyzes the establishment of the Women’s Committee of Uzbekistan as a public organization following the country’s independence in 1991, its place within the system of public administration, as well as the main stages of the Committee’s activity, including its institutional consolidation in the late 1990s and early 2000s and subsequent changes associated with ongoing reforms. It examines the Committee’s priority areas of work, such as enhancing women’s socio‑political participation, protecting their rights and interests, promoting healthy lifestyles, and strengthening spiritual and educational initiatives. Particular attention is paid to cooperation with the mahalla system, educational institutions and other civil society organizations in increasing legal literacy, consolidating the culture of family relations, and preparing young women for independent life. The article discusses the Committee’s tasks on the basis of presidential decrees, government resolutions and statutory documents, analyzing such practical dimensions as ensuring women’s employment, studying their problems and seeking solutions, as well as encouraging talented women. In addition, it explores the content of normative‑legal acts aimed at supporting the Committee’s activities. The article considers the Committee’s work in the context of reforms implemented in 2018–2020, highlighting the transition to a new stage of development, the improvement of its organizational structure, and tendencies toward its subsequent transformation into other institutional formats. In this way, the institutional evolution of women‑related policy in Uzbekistan over 1991–2020, its achievements and challenges, as well as conclusions necessary for further development in this field are summarized from a scholarly perspective.
