The article analyses the problem of personal self-understanding from an existential-philosophical perspective. Self-understanding is interpreted not as the discovery of a ready-made essence but as a continuously ongoing existential process. Based on an analysis of contemporary phenomenological and existential studies published between 2020 and 2025, four dimensions of self-understanding are identified: existential, narrative, relational and bodily. The article also examines how the process of self-understanding changes in the digital environment and the new problems associated with algorithmic personalisation and online self-presentation. As a result, a four-component conceptual model of self-understanding is proposed.
