The article examines the development of production, centralized supply and retail trade in grocery and related food products in the Uzbekistan. The study is based on archival records of the Ministry of Trade of the Uzbek SSR and the Uzglavzhirmaslo administration, as well as published works on Soviet trade, food industry and consumer cooperation. A problem-chronological, comparative-historical and quantitative approach is used. The materials reveal that growth in output and planned commodity funds did not automatically guarantee stable retail availability: supply disruptions, reporting delays, quality defects, storage problems and uneven fulfillment of plans persisted. Particular attention is paid to butter, sugar, tea, confectionery, pasta, canned foods and vegetable oil. The article argues that the grocery market should be studied as an interconnected system of production, distribution, quality control and retail realization.
