The article examines a wide range of issues related to the specifics of organizing the production and trade of spices and seasonings in Uzbekistan during the 20th century. Since almost the entire period falls within the years of Uzbekistan's inclusion in the USSR, the analysis focuses on the industry's characteristics under a planned economy and ideological regulation (Khanin, 1991; Gregory, 2004). Special attention is given to the selection, breeding, cultivation, as well as export and import of spices and seasonings. The research materials, systematized according to the logic of scientific analysis, include archival documents from the National Archives of Uzbekistan, as well as publications from the first half of the 20th century that hold significant bibliographic value (NAUz, f. R-25, op.1, d.78; Vavilov, 1926).
