This article scientifically and theoretically analyzes the historical stages of development of Uzbek epic poetry from its origins to the present day. Furthermore, the article explores the ancient mythological roots of the Uzbek folk epos, principles of periodization, and the specific performance and poetic features of the main bakhshi schools established in our republic (Bulungur, Kashkadarya, Surkhandarya, Khorezm).
