Annotatsiya

This academic study analyzes Haruki Murakami’s novel 1Q84, one of the most significant works of his literary career, within the context of postmodern literature. The primary aim of the research is to identify and interpret, from a scholarly perspective, the concepts of alternative reality presented in the novel, the mutable nature of identity, and the metaphorical representation of processes of personal growth. The novel’s structure is built around two parallel worlds, 1984 and 1Q84, through which the author artistically explores the relativity of reality, the limits of human perception, and the complex relationship between consciousness and existence. The study employs postmodernist theory, psychoanalytic approaches, particularly Carl Gustav Jung’s concepts, existential philosophy, including the views of Jean-Paul Sartre and Albert Camus, and contemporary developments in Japanese literary studies as its methodological foundation. In particular, the scholarly works of Matthew C. Strecher, Jay Rubin, and Susan Napier, who have studied Haruki Murakami’s poetics, serve as a key basis for the analysis.
