Annotatsiya

The rapid development of information technologies and the widespread use of the Internet have given rise to new forms of crime that threaten a person’s honor, dignity, and privacy. Against this backdrop, an in-depth analysis of criminal law provisions protecting an individual’s non-material values has become particularly important. This article examines the criminal law aspects of liability for disclosing information that infringes upon a person’s honor and dignity and reveals intimate aspects of private life, as provided for under Article 141³ of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It traces the historical and legal origins of this offense from ancient Roman law to the modern international human rights system and argues for recognizing “deepfake” images as subject matter of this offense. The article identifies gaps in current legislation and provides a comparative legal analysis drawing on the experience of the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, and the Russian Federation.
