Based on Recommendation Rec(2001)10 of the Council of Europe, The European Code of Police Ethics, the article analyzes the importance of legality, professional ethics, personal responsibility, compliance with lawful orders, refusal to carry out manifestly unlawful orders, zero tolerance for corruption, and respect for human rights in ensuring service discipline among internal affairs officers. It is substantiated that service discipline entails not only compliance with orders and internal regulations but also the responsible performance of duties based on an awareness of the lawfulness of one’s own actions and decisions. The article also demonstrates that incorporating the provisions of the Code into professional training and advanced training programs constitutes an important educational and preventive tool for enhancing officers’ legal and professional culture, strengthening service discipline, and preventing disciplinary violations.
