Annotatsiya

This scientific article presents a musicological analysis of the creative work of Mustafo Bafoyev, one of the prominent representatives of the modern Uzbek compositional school. The composer’s oeuvre is characterized by the synthesis of national musical thinking, particularly the modal and intonational features of the maqom system, with contemporary compositional techniques. The study highlights the influence of the Bukhara musical environment on Bafoyev’s creative development, his engagement with maqom traditions, and his approach to reinterpreting national musical material within a symphonic framework. Using the opera “Alisher Navoi” as a case study, the study examines the system of leitmotifs, particularly the thematic material derived from “Choli Iroq” and “Munojot”, their dramaturgical function, intonational development, orchestration techniques, and timbral treatment. Particular attention is given to the transformation of maqom intonations in the composer’s works, the use of national instrumental timbres within the symphonic orchestra, and the principles of monothematic and monocyclic development. The study also explores the artistic synthesis of tradition and modernity, structural and dramaturgical features, and identifies Bafoyev’s role in the development of Uzbek musical culture. The findings demonstrate that his creative work constitutes an integration of national and universal musical values.
