Objective. To comparatively assess the clinical efficacy of adding traditional medicine methods (acupuncture, pharmacopuncture) to standard pharmacotherapy in patients with facial nerve neuritis (Bell's palsy). Materials and methods. This prospective comparative study enrolled 80 patients aged 35–50 years (mean age 42.6 ± 4.3 years) with facial nerve neuritis (ICD-10: G51.0), divided into two groups: Group I (study, n=40) — standard pharmacotherapy + acupuncture + pharmacopuncture; Group II (control, n=40) — standard pharmacotherapy only. The treatment course lasted 21 days. Assessment was performed at T0 and T1 (day 21) using the House–Brackmann (HB) scale, the Sunnybrook Facial Grading System (FGS) and SF-36. Statistical analysis was conducted in SPSS 26.0 (p<0.05). Results. By the end of the course, the mean HB score decreased from 4.05 to 1.75 in the study group and from 4.10 to 2.58 in the control group (between-group p<0.001). A "clinically satisfactory result" (HB I–II) was achieved in 82.5% of the study group versus 50.0% of the control group (OR=4.71; p=0.002). The total Sunnybrook score rose from 32.4 to 76.8 (Δ=+44.4; Cohen's d=3.62) in the study group and from 31.8 to 57.8 (Δ=+26.0; d=1.93) in the control group. Post-paralytic synkinesis developed in 10.0% of the study group versus 32.5% of the control group (OR=0.23; p=0.015). Mean treatment duration was 14.8 versus 19.6 days (p<0.001). Both the physical (PCS) and mental (MCS) SF-36 components improved significantly more in the study group (PCS Δ=+26.5 vs +13.8; MCS Δ=+32.4 vs +15.4). Conclusion. Adding acupuncture and pharmacopuncture to standard pharmacotherapy accelerates functional recovery in facial nerve neuritis, reduces the risk of post-paralytic synkinesis and residual symptoms, and comprehensively improves patients' quality of life.
