Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is one of the most aggressive and highly malignant forms of lung cancer. This disease is characterized by rapid proliferation, early metastasis, and high recurrence rates following treatment. This specific pathology accounts for a significant portion of lung cancer-related deaths worldwide. The primary risk factor for the disease is long-term tobacco smoking, and in the majority of patients, the disease is already locally advanced or at a metastatic stage at the time of diagnosis. This article analyzes the clinical efficacy and toxicity of first-line chemotherapy for small cell lung cancer, as well as the role of modern treatment methods. The research was conducted as a literature review, examining data from international clinical guidelines, randomized controlled trials, and meta-analyses. To increase treatment efficacy and reduce toxicity, the use of an individualized approach, modern radiological monitoring, and supportive therapy methods is recommended.
