Relevance. Early and accurate determination of the severity of eyeball damage is a key factor for choosing optimal treatment tactics, predicting functional outcomes and preventing complications. Purpose of the study. To study the diagnostic advantages of using optical coherence tomography with angiography (OCT-A) in assessing the severity of retinal and optic nerve damage in patients with closed eye injuries (CEI). Material and methods. 50 patients with CTD were examined using the OCT-A method on the OCT SOLIX OPTOVUE device (USA). The control group consisted of 25 healthy individuals of the same age. The indices of vessel density of the superficial (SCP), deep (DCP) and radial peripapillary (RPC) capillary plexuses were studied on days 1–3, 1 and 3 months after injury. Results. In early treatment (in the first 1-3 days), a significant decrease in vascular density was revealed, especially in the DCP (34.1% versus 47.31% in the control). After 1 month, a tendency towards restoration of microcirculation was noted (DCP – 38.45%, SCP – 45.1%, RPC – 45.5%). Conclusion. OCT-A allows for the detection of vascular disorders even in cases of mild trauma, when the ophthalmoscopic picture remains normal, making the method highly informative for dynamic monitoring and prognosis of visual functions.
