Relevance. Over the past decades, macular retinal diseases have consistently remained one of the main causes of low vision among adults in developed countries. One of these diseases that can cause irreversible vision loss is macular holes. According to Gass J.D., the incidence of macular holes (MH) is 3.3 per 1000 population. Purpose of the study. Analysis of the effectiveness of surgical treatment of macular holes by implantation of amniotic membrane. Materials and methods. Our study included 78 patients (78 eyes) with a macular hole larger than 400 μm. Results and conclusion. The proposed method of surgical treatment of RM by implantation of amniotic membrane gives anatomical and functional success in 96.5% - 91.7% of cases, respectively.
