The aim of this study is to investigate the role of environmental factors in the development of keratoconus, based on literature and research evidence. Materials and methods. Data were collected from published monographs and scientific articles on keratoconus and were analyzed systematically. Results and conclusion. Keratoconus is a multifactorial disease, and its development is often determined by the interplay of hereditary predisposition and environmental factors.
