One of the most pressing issues in modern neurology is cerebrovascular disease. This is due to the high mortality and disability associated with stroke. Objective. To study the prevalence, etiology, and risk factors for stroke in various ecologically unfavorable regions of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. Material and methods. To determine the prevalence of stroke in the island region of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, the diseases that lead to stroke, risk factors, clinical course, short-term prognosis, and preventive measures, a "Stroke Registry" was conducted in the Kegeyli, Amu Darya, and Muynak districts of the Republic of Karakalpakstan and the city of Nukus from 2021 to 2023. Results. The study compared districts with unfavorable environmental conditions and various climatic conditions, as well as the capital of the republic, Nukus. In the city of Nukus, 985 patients were diagnosed over a 3-year period, while 166 patients were registered in the Kegeyli district, 113 patients in the Amu Darya district, and 65 patients in the Muynak district. An in-depth analysis of the etiological causes and risk factors for stroke by district was conducted. Conclusions. Based on the analysis of the etiological causes and risk factors leading to the development of stroke in ecologically unfavorable regions of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, it was established that the main risk factors for both ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke are arterial hypertension and a high hereditary predisposition.
