This study examines the growing need to foster intercultural communicative competence (ICC) in English as aForeign Language (EFL) instruction, particularly as English increasingly functions as a lingua franca among speakers fromdiverse cultural backgrounds. It explores the design and implementation of culture-sensitive communicative tasks aimedat enhancing learners’ pragmatic awareness, empathy, and cross-cultural communication skills. Drawing on Byram’s ICCmodel (1997), Communicative Language Teaching (CLT), and Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT), the qualitativeanalysis investigates teacher practices and student responses in university EFL classrooms.
