Introduction. Violence against children remains one of the most pervasive violations of children’s rights and one of the most pressing global public health challenges. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), nearly one billion children aged 2–17 years experience physical, sexual, emotional violence, or neglect annually, indicating the widespread and persistent nature of child maltreatment worldwide [1]. Recent global estimates further suggest that approximately one in two children is exposed to at least one form of violence each year, underscoring the urgent need for effective prevention and protection mechanisms. A growing body of empirical research demonstrates that violence against children constitutes a major source of adverse childhood experiences (ACEs), which are strongly associated with long- term physical, psychological, and social consequences. Studies have shown that exposure to violence in childhood increases the risk of chronic diseases, depression, anxiety disorders, post- traumatic stress symptoms, impaired educational attainment, and reduced socioeconomic functioning in adulthood. These findings suggest that the consequences of violence extend far beyond immediate harm and significantly affect developmental trajectories across the lifespan. From a socio-psychological perspective, childhood violence disrupts emotional security, attachment formation, cognitive development, and social functioning.
