The article analyzes the jewelry art that developed in the early Middle Ages in the territory of Central Sogdia, especially on the basis of the findings recorded as a result of archaeological research carried out at the Kafirqala site located near Samarkand. During the study, jewelry items made of gold, silver, and bronze — pendants, medallions, earrings, rings, bracelets, fibulae, crown ornaments, mirrors, and bells — were examined, and conclusions were drawn that they were used not only as adornments, but also for protective, symbolic, and ritual purposes. At the same time, the article reflects the high level of mastery of Central Sogdian craftsmen in metalworking, expressed through works of art connected with trade, cultural relations, and religious views. The jewelry items discovered at the Kafirqala site are of great importance for studying the jewelry art of Central Sogdia of the 7th–8th centuries, as well as its trade-economic and cultural relations with neighboring regions. Through these gold and silver ornaments, one can observe the economic power of the region and see that craftsmanship occupied an important place in the economy. In addition, during the Middle Ages the Sogdian territory maintained active cultural and trade-economic relations with neighboring Bactria, Byzantium, Iran, and India.
