Introduction. When selecting hypoglycemic therapy, it is necessary to take into account not only the effectiveness of the drug, but also its effect on risk factors for the development of cardiovascular complications, in particular the effect on the lipid spectrum and body weight. This is especially true when selecting therapy for patients with increased body weight and obesity. Purpose. To assess the comparative efficacy of incretin drugs aGLP-1 liraglutide (Victoza) and iDPP-4 linagliptin (Trajenta) in combination with metformin in patients with type T2D with increased body weight and obesity. Materials and methods. 57 patients with type 2 diabetes were examined, divided into 2 groups according to the therapy received: 1 group of liraglutide + metformin; 2 group linagliptin + metformin. The dynamics of carbohydrate and lipid metabolism indicators, some anthropometric data against the background of 3 and 6 months of therapy were investigated. The results of the study showed the effectiveness of combination therapy with the studied drugs in patients with T2DM. However, long-term combination therapy with liraglutide + metformin showed a more significant decrease in carbohydrate metabolism, high efficiency in reducing BMI, waist size and % of fat mass in comparison with linagliptin + metformin combination therapy. Conclusion. The study confirmed the data on the effectiveness of metformin combination therapy with both liraglutide and linaglyptine. The results of the study allow us to recommend a combination of liraglutide + metformin for long-term therapy in patients with T2T diabetes with increased body weight and obesity.
