The work is based on the examination results of 163 patients aged 12 to 73 years with cavity formations of the lungs who were undergoing inpatient treatment at the clinics of the Samarkand Medical University. Patients were admitted to the department, mainly with suspicion of a cavity form of cancer 36 (22.1%), purulent process 48 (29.4%), and cavernous tuberculosis 25 (15.3%). The remaining 54 (33.2%) patients were admitted with various types of cystic pulmonary formations. The effectiveness of CT in abscess, cavity form of cancer, and cavernous tuberculosis was 84.6%, 63.6%, 33.3%, respectively. Bullous changes were detected in 50% of cases during radiological examination, and CT effectiveness was 100%. The rational and targeted use of CT, bronchoscopy, and various types of biopsies (endobronchial, transthoracic needle biopsy) significantly improves the differentiation of cavity-filled lung formations.
