The article analyzes the essence and structure of independent learning competence in higher education, as well as contemporary methodological approaches to its development. The theoretical and methodological framework of the study is based on such approaches as andragogy, self-directed learning, readiness for self-directed learning, and orientation toward personal responsibility.
