This article presents a systematic analysis of differentiated instruction in foreign language teaching and examines its pedagogical-psychological mechanisms in contemporary linguodidactics. The study synthesizes theoretical foundations, recent empirical findings, and locally relevant methodological perspectives to clarify how differentiation supports reading, listening, speaking, and writing development. Special attention is paid to learner readiness, cognitive style, motivation, scaffolding, flexible grouping, choice-based tasks, and diagnostic teaching. The article argues that differentiated instruction should not be understood as mechanical division of students into fixed levels, but as a dynamic process of adapting content, learning activities, expected products, and classroom support to individual needs. On the basis of international studies and N. Jamoliddinova’s works, the article identifies practical conditions for implementing tiered activities in EFL classes. The findings indicate that differentiated tasks can increase engagement, reduce linguistic anxiety, and strengthen learners’ communicative competence when supported by systematic assessment and reflective teacher decision-making in higher education settings.
