Annotatsiya

This article examines a corpus-based study of the functioning of lexical bundles (chunks) in English-language scientific discourse. The research is based on the academic sub-corpus of COCA, where the most frequent three- and four-word bundles were identified and classified into functional categories. The results indicate that lexical bundles in scientific discourse primarily serve three functions: text-oriented, research-oriented, and stance bundles. The study highlights the pedagogical implications of using lexical bundles in academic writing instruction, suggesting that familiarity with these recurrent units can significantly enhance students’ proficiency in constructing coherent and stylistically appropriate texts.
