The article is devoted to the analysis of color symbolism in Robert Merle's post-apocalyptic novel "Malville" in the context of biosemiotics. The author considers color designations as important semiotic elements interacting with the biosphere of the work and the inner world of the characters. In the context of a destroyed civilization, color symbols in "Malville" acquire new significance, forming the aesthetic and emotional background of the narrative. Particular attention is paid to the interpretation of colors such as black, green, red and gray, through the prism of environmental awareness, fear, hope and loss. The biosemiotic approach allows us to identify the relationship between natural elements, the color palette and the cultural code of the text. As a result of the analysis, it becomes obvious that color in the novel functions not only as an artistic means, but also as a marker of human interaction with the environment, acting as a mediator between the text and nature.
