This article analyzes the theoretical and practical significance of sketchy exercises in the formation of acting skills. The role of the sketch method in theatrical pedagogy, its psychological and pedagogical features are covered on a scientific basis. The role of study exercises in the development of imagination, emotional memory and stage freedom of the actor is also revealed. The article substantiates the effectiveness of the sketch method based on the views of such theater theorists as Konstantin Stanislavsky, Vsevolod Meyerhold, Jerzy Grotovsky and Michael Chekhov.
