The article provides a theoretical analysis of the didactic potential of virtual simulation technologies in medical education. A classification of simulation-based learning tools is presented (low- and high-fidelity trainers, virtual patient programs, virtual and augmented reality, haptic simulators); based on international meta-analyses, the didactic functions are described, including a safe learning environment, deliberate repetitive practice, modeling of rare clinical situations, objective assessment and debriefing. The experience of the USA, the United Kingdom, Israel and European countries is summarized, and recommendations for the phased introduction of these technologies into medical education in Uzbekistan are substantiated.
