The article provides a comparative analysis of the symbolic and aesthetic functions of nature imagery through Togay Murod’s novel “Fields inherited by my father” and Ernest Hemingway’s novella “The old man and the sea”. It highlights the connection between the archetypes of earth (soil) and sea with the existential destiny of man.
