This study examined the impact of structured debate activities on improving oral fluency and critical thinking skills among students learning English as a foreign language. The “Ibrat” debate tournaments and training sessions were organized in the Khatirchi district of the Navoi region to develop students’ critical thinking, public speaking, and leadership skills in English. Participants took part in a six-week debate program in which they discussed everyday topics, such as the use of technology in schools each week. During the research, pre-tests and post-tests were conducted to identify changes in students’ speaking abilities and their capacity to express logical ideas, as well as to evaluate the effectiveness of the debate activities and explore students’ opinions about the process. The findings of the study revealed that integrating structured debates into EFL classes effectively supports language learning and promotes higher-order thinking skills. The method was found to be especially effective in rural or resource-limited educational institutions.
