This article examines the historical, linguistic, and cultural formation of modern Scottish literature within the framework of postcolonial theory. It analyzes the specific features of the artistic interpretation of national identity under conditions of English cultural dominance. Particular attention is paid to the role of language as a key instrument of cultural resistance, as well as to the interaction of historical memory, national self-awareness, and artistic discourse within the system of center–periphery relations.
