Idiomatic expressions represent a linguistically complex phenomenon which meanings cannot be derived through linear semantic composition. This article investigates idiomatic expressions from the perspective of linguistic synergy, viewing them as the result of a synergistic process in which semantic, pragmatic, cognitive, and cultural factors interact to generate emergent meaning. Drawing on the principles of synergetic and pragma semantics, the study argues that idiomatic meaning arises through the self-organization of linguistic elements within specific communicative contexts.
