The article discusses the potential of using content analysis of media texts as an effective method for developing students’ linguistic and cultural skills. The author describes the stages and results of a pedagogical experiment aimed at enhancing students’ ability to interpret culturally marked linguistic units, analyze nationally specific components, and identify sociocultural features of media discourse. Comparative data confirming positive progress in the development of linguistic and cultural competencies among students in the experimental group are presented. The article concludes that the use of media texts and content analysis in the foreign language teaching process is highly effective.
