This article presents a comparative analysis of the theme of freedom and the formation of personality in Fyodor Dostoevsky’s Crime and Punishment, Abdulla Kadiri’s Thirty Million, and Ernest Hemingway’s The Old Man and the Sea. The study examines how freedom is perceived across different cultural and historical contexts and argues for the pedagogical value of an intercultural approach in literature teaching to broaden students’ horizons.
