This study explores the concept of the American Dream in F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby and its inevitable failure as portrayed through the lives of Jay Gatsby, Daisy Buchanan, Tom Buchanan, and other characters. By analyzing themes of wealth, social status, and materialism, the research emphasizes the corruption of the original ideals of liberty, equality, and happiness. The methodology is based on qualitative textual analysis, drawing from historical context, critical scholarship, and Fitzgerald’s narrative strategies. Results demonstrate that the American Dream fails not only due to economic corruption but also because of moral decline and distorted valuesin the Jazz Age society.
