Folktales constitute an essential intangible heritage, bearing witness to the beliefs, values, and social structures of a culture. Magic, omnipresent in these stories, plays a central role in plot development and in the characterization of both protagonists and antagonists. However, its representation varies across cultural and linguistic traditions. This thesis proposes a comparative study of the concept of magic in Uzbek and French folktales, adopting a dual—linguistic and mythological—approach.
