The article investigates the processes of secondary nomination in modern Russian. It analyzes the mechanisms of forming figurative meanings in everyday vocabulary and examines the main types of semantic changes (metaphor, metonymy), as well as their connection to cultural characteristics and social transformations. Special attention is given to the patterns of semantic transformations and the role of secondary nomination in the development of the language system.
