This article explores the relevance of Howard Gardner’s theory of Multiple Intelligences and the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI) in the context of foreign language teaching, with a special focus on training future German language teachers. It emphasizes the importance of recognizing and addressing learners’ cognitive and personality differences to enhance instructional effectiveness and learner engagement. Drawing on the work of renowned German scholars in pedagogy and psychology, the study highlights how incorporating multiple intelligences and personality profiles into lesson planning and classroom interaction can support more inclusive and student-centered teaching. The article also introduces the use of personality inventories such as the 16 Personalities Test as tools for both teacher self-reflection and learner differentiation. Recommendations are provided for integrating these frameworks into pre-service teacher education to foster adaptive, reflective, and motivating language instruction. By aligning teaching strategies with learners’ individual strengths, educators can create dynamic and responsive learning environments that support deeper language acquisition and personal development.
