The article discusses the methods and principles of organizing independent work of students in Russian language lessons at universities. Effective methods, the use of textbooks and digital resources, as well as forms of control and assessment of independent activities are described. The influence of independent work on improving the level of proficiency in the Russian language is analyzed. The article is intended for teachers and students studying the methodology of teaching the Russian language.
