This article explores how Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur is perceived both as a historical figure and a literary character in Eastern and Western literary traditions. A comparative analysis is conducted based on Harold Lamb’s English-language historical-biographical work and Pirimqul Qodirov’s novel Yulduzli tunlar (Starry Nights). In Qodirov’s novel, Babur is portrayed through his emotional struggles, loyalty to his homeland, and inner turmoil, whereas Harold Lamb presents him as a military leader, courageous strategist, and political figure. The article analyzes the stylistic, ideological, and aesthetic differences and similarities in the two authors’ approaches. Furthermore, it examines how a historical figure is transformed into a literary character and how each author reflects their respective national and cultural perspectives. Through the image of Babur, the article highlights the similarities and differences in Eastern and Western portrayals of historical personalities.
