This study aimed to improve the wrestling discipline among physical education students, enhance the effectiveness of its teaching among youth, and refine the methodology for developing physical qualities. The research process was organized with the participation of students majoring in Physical Education. During the training sessions, special and general developmental exercises aimed at mastering wrestling techniques were systematically applied. In practical sessions, a “chuchelo” – a cloth mannequin filled with sand and cotton — was effectively used. This training tool made it possible to safely and repeatedly practice wrestling techniques in a standing position, reinforce technical movements, and develop the necessary skills. Throughout the experiment, students improved the correctness of their wrestling techniques, increased the accuracy and speed of their movements, and enhanced their strength and endurance indicators. This approach proved to be well-founded. A total of 20 students from the Faculty of Sports and Arts actively participated in the study. The article also demonstrates the importance of appropriate psychological approaches for wrestlers during competitions.
