Shamsiddin Somi is a figure whose extensive scholarly activity deserves study. His authorship of the first novel in the Turkish language and of an encyclopedia is of particular importance. Although these were the first works in Turkish society, they still have readers and attract scientific researchers. His political and scientific articles address important social, political, and linguistic issues and developments of this period.
